Learn to Skate

Summary: This program focuses on introducing children to the concepts of ice skating through non-competitive on-ice activities. This program is offered exclusively through the Stoughton Park and Recreational department. Please click the following link to check the there website for registration dates and details.

Mini-Vikes Hockey

(Prerequisite - Stoughton City Skating Lessons)

Summary: SYHA MINI-VIKES HOCKEY is a FUN, enjoyable way to learn to skate and play hockey. This program is for children ages 4-6 who are looking for fun this winter!

Skaters will participate in 1 to 2 practices per week which include non-competative activities. Practices are structured according to the guidelines set in the USA Hockey ADM Model. This program provides a fun, inexpensive way for children to get excited about the sport of ice hockey.

Duration: This program runs from early October to February.

Time Commitment: Mini-Vikes hockey will meet one to two times a week.

Where: Practices are held at the Mandt Community Center in Stoughton.

Age Level: Mini-Vikes is open to children between the ages of 4-6.

Cost: $125.00 ice fee, $100.00 packet of Raffle Tickets (ten $10.00 tickets that can be re-sold), as well as $175.00 in fundraising activities.


Mighty Vikes Hockey

(Prerequisite - Stoughton City Skating Lessons or Mini-Vikes)

Summary: The Mighty Vikes (ages 7 and 9) will replace the "traditional" Mite Team that has existed in previous seasons. The Mighty Vikes will participate in the Dane County U8 Cross Ice League and the U8 Dane County League on half ice with goalies.

Duration: This program runs from early October to March.

Time Commitment: Mighty Vikes hockey will practice primarily on Wednesdays and Sundays with some activities scheduled on Saturdays.

Where: Practices are held at the Mandt Community Center in Stoughton.

Age Level: Mighty Vikes is open to children between the ages of 7-9 (Please note that we will open this program to 6 year olds that possess the skating skill necessary to participate).

Cost: $250.00 ice fee, $100.00 packet of Raffle Tickets (ten $10.00 tickets that can be re-sold), as well as $300.00 fundraising.


Super Vikes Hockey

(Prerequisite - Stoughton City Skating Lessons)

Summary: The Super Vikes (ages 9 to 12) will offer introductory opportunities similar to the past 2 seasons with the Mini-Vikes and Mighty Vikes (with an emphasis similar to Rink Rat Hockey). The City Rec Department will offer 2 "mini-sessions" at the beginning of each new City Skating Lesson session. This is the equivalent of a "house league" and will be opened up for certain younger skaters (primarily girls if there is no U10 girl’s team).

Duration: This program runs from early October to March.

Time Commitment: Super Vikes hockey will primarily be held on Wednesdays and Sundays with 3 to 4 scrimmage games to be held with goalies and referees.

Where: Practices and scrimmage games are held at the Mandt Community Center in Stoughton.

Age Level: Super Vikes is open to children between the ages of 9-12.

Cost: $150.00 ice fee, $100.00 packet of Raffle Tickets (ten $10.00 tickets that can be re-sold), as well as $175.00 fundraising.
